Dwarf Horsetail (Equisetum scirpoides) – Compact Pond Edge Plant

Low-Growing Rush for Bog Gardens and Pond Borders

Dwarf Horsetail (Equisetum scirpoides) is a compact and attractive pond plant perfect for adding fine texture to bog gardens and pond edges. Growing just around 8 inches tall, this low-growing variety forms a spreading, grass-like appearance that complements both natural and formal water features. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and performs best in consistently moist soil, tolerating occasional seasonal flooding but not full submersion above the crown. Hardy in zones 6–10, Dwarf Horsetail is easy to maintain and ideal for softening pond edges, filling small spaces, and creating a natural, layered look in your water garden.
