Emergent Pond Plants

These versatile aquatic plants will grow as submerged plants as deep as two feet below the waters' surface or as an emergent plant (rooted in shallow water and having most of its vegetative growth above water). Quite a few of these varieties also flower.  We suggest that you submerge the stems for them to develop roots before planting in stream beds and bog areas. If you order plants that are illegal to ship into your state, they will substituted!

Aquatic Marginal & Submerged Plants

Versatile Water Plants for Ponds, Streams, and Bog Gardens

These versatile aquatic plants can grow either fully submerged up to two feet below the water’s surface or as emergent plants, rooted in shallow water with foliage rising above. Many varieties also produce attractive flowers, adding both texture and seasonal color to your pond or water feature. For best results, we recommend submerging plant stems initially to encourage root development before transferring them to stream beds or bog areas. Please note that certain aquatic plants may be restricted in specific states; if a selected variety cannot be shipped, a suitable substitute will be provided.
