Floating Pond Plants
Floating Pond Plants
Natural Filtration and Shade for a Healthy Water Garden
Floating pond plants such as water hyacinth, water lettuce, frogbit, and sensitive ferns are excellent for natural filtration and maintaining a balanced water garden. These plants spread across the water’s surface, providing shade that helps reduce algae growth while creating shelter for fish and other aquatic life. Their roots absorb excess nutrients from the water, improving clarity and overall pond health. For best results, floating plants should be added when water temperatures are consistently 65°F or higher, as warmer conditions support healthy growth. Sensitive ferns, in particular, require warm water and will not tolerate cold conditions. Please note that some plant varieties may be restricted in certain states; if a selected plant cannot be shipped, a suitable substitute will be provided.
