Moneywort can be grown as a submerged plant or as an emergent bog plant (rooted in shallow water and having most of its vegetative growth above water). It has glossy, oblong, leaves and produces small, fragrant blue flowers during the summer months. This versatile submerged plant can grow to the surface and form a carpet on top of the water.
