Vallisneria Americana (Eelgrass) – Live Oxygenating Pond Plant for Sale
A Hardy, Fast-Spreading Submerged Plant for Clear, Healthy Ponds
Vallisneria (Vallisneria americana), commonly known as American eelgrass or tape grass, is a popular oxygenating pond plant featuring long, ribbon-like leaves that grow between 24 to 36 inches. Ideal for natural ponds and water gardens, this hardy aquatic plant helps improve water clarity, reduce algae, and provide shelter for fish. Vallisneria can be planted in slightly sandy soil in pots or directly in the bottom of an earthen pond. It spreads naturally through stolons, allowing it to form dense underwater meadows and thrive in deeper water, making it an excellent choice for creating a balanced and low-maintenance pond ecosystem.
