Rosette Lettuce is a smaller, compact variety of lettuce pistia with a rosette shape. The velvety, intricately patterned ribbed leaves are ruffled and the color ranges from light green to blue green. Rosette lettuce prefers some shade in hotter climates. Like water hyacinths, Rosette Lettuce provides shade and helps control algae by absorbing nutrients. Water temperatures must be 65 degrees when adding this plant to your water garden. Water lettuce will not tolerate freezing temperatures or cold water. When exposed to cold, the leaves of Rosette Water will turn white and rot. A popular floating plant for water gardens that are located in shade or part shade.

Rosette Water Lettuce – Compact Floating Pond Plant for Shade & Algae Control
Smaller Pistia Variety with Ruffled Leaves and Excellent Water-Cleaning Benefits
Rosette Water Lettuce is a compact variety of pistia, featuring a tight rosette shape with soft, velvety, ribbed leaves that range in color from light green to blue-green. This attractive floating pond plant is ideal for smaller water gardens or ponds with partial shade, where it thrives best in warmer conditions. Like water hyacinth, rosette lettuce helps control algae by absorbing excess nutrients while providing natural shade and protection for fish. It should be added when water temperatures reach at least 65°F and performs best in shaded or partially shaded environments. Not cold hardy, this plant will not tolerate freezing temperatures—exposure to cold water causes the leaves to turn white and decay—making it a reliable seasonal addition for maintaining clear, balanced pond water.
